The Prince Edward Island - A province for your easy PR from being an International Student

There are  3 main PR Pathways  in the PEI for IS. These are the International graduates Stream, Occupations in demand stream and the Atlantic Immigration Program Stream.

The International graduates stream is the easiest amongst these 3 pathways. With this pathway the applicant must have a full time job offer, should have finished post secondary school in a DLI institution in the PEI and on post graduate work permit.

Applicant is not required to do language proficiency if the position is in TEER 0-3 as long as the employer confirms that they are comfortable with the applicant's language ability. And this is very positive to those who want to avoid IELTS.

You have to have sufficient financial resources to cover your living expenses in the PEI and ofcourse, prove that you have a genuine intention to live in PEI.

The most interesting fact about this pathway is that there is no restriction on TEER Code, no restriction on job title, no restriction on industry even. This pathway does not even say that you should have worked for atleast 6 months to be qualifiedin this pathway. It just says, you must have a job offer. And this is absolutely positive. A PR Pathway can not be more lenient than this. The only province that can compete with this kind of leniency on PR eligibility factors is Manitoba. I have not read any other PR eligibility as lenient as these two. If you know otherwise, pls email us - [email protected] and we are more than happy to investigate.

The second easy pathway for IS in PEI is the AIP.

AIP is somehow comparable to the International graduates stream, but the main difference is that AIP requires the job offer to be at least 1 year . With the international graduates stream - there is no specific requirement for the length of employment. Another remarkable factor with AIP is that, if you graduated in a DLI PGWP eligible post secondary school in the Atlantic - there is no requirement for a job experience.

Among all three streams the Occupations in demand is the hardest.

In this pathway yo must have a full time non seasonal job offer as well, must be in specific job designation as follows,

  • NOC 33102 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates);
  • NOC 73300 (Transport truck drivers);
  • NOC 75110 (Construction trades helpers and labourers);
  • NOC 65310 (Light duty cleaners);
  • NOC 95109 (Other labourers in processing, manufacturing and utilities);
  • NOC 75101 (Material handlers);
  • NOC 94140 (Process control and machine operators food and beverage processing); or
  • NOC 94141 (Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers

You must have atleast 1 year experience related to your job offer, you must provide language proficiency, you must have enough finances to cover your expenses and your genuine intention to live in the PEI must be proven.

The good news is that, if you are an international student in the PEI, the occupations in demand stream is not your priority stream. The other two streams - International graduates and AIP are of better options to you.

I know it is ideal to move to Canada as a landed PR or via work permit. Those pathways are less expensive than student pathway. But pls consider, if you have been waiting for that nomination, that job, that express entry draw for over 6 months - maybe you should consider the student pathway already. Do not just think about the money you will invest , you have to think first and foremost the time that is being wasted because of waiting. Time is priceless. All of us, even the richest of the rich have only 24 hours in a day. Spend it wisely. You can never earn time back. But you can always earn money.
